My Game History

The first time I started playing games was probably when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I remember rising early with my parents to play on my Sega Master System II. This console was also responsible for my first and (until now) only game injury : blisters on my thumbs. The game that caused it required continuously sliding of both thumbs over the control pad and the 1 and 2 buttons.

The following gaming device I bought was a black Game Boy with the game Donkey Kong Land 2.

As for consoles, for some reason, I skipped the fourth generation and so my following console was the Nintendo 64. It is on this console I played my all time favorite, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Also, my favorite shooter of all time was released on this console : Perfect Dark. This game was immensely pricy. I payed 4200 Belgian francs for it, that's about € 100 ! The advantage you had for such whopping price tags however, was no loading screens. You never had to wait, every game played instantly.

Over the years, the following handhelds were added to my collection : Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance Tribal Edition, Nintendo DS.
As for consoles, the members are: Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360.
Of course, I also played PC games if my computer was able to run them. It had occurred a few times I had bought a game only to find out at home my computer wasn't powerful enough.
At a certain point, I my grandfather gave me his Philips Videopac, the oldest console in my collection.

Since the N64, I was hooked on the Nintendo exclusive games. They were so well created. I never got the same feeling on the other available consoles. But when the Wii was released, the number of good Nintendo exclusive titles dropped massively. Although I love the console, the amount of good games is really, really poor.
I bought all titles I needed to buy and then the purchases for the Wii stagnated. There were no titles anymore I wanted.
So by beginning to look at the competition, I liked the library of the Xbox 360 and bought me one when the price had dropped severely.

My game library is very diverse, ranging from the original Animal Crossing to Gears of War. I play all types of games and I am always curious to see how something is done when it differs from the norm or is critically acclaimed.

Before I had internet, I used to play with some friends over LAN. To be badass at that age, you needed an alias or nickname of course. I searched for a long time until magically, one morning when I had just awoken, the name ‘Vega’ popped in my head. So this became my gaming alias.
A few years later, I added ‘DeadInside’ to it. I heard the term in a song and thought it would make my nickname more badass. And the name never changed since then.
It has gone through a series of different formats because not every game allowed the same length of characters. Some of the formats are : -=(Vega)=-DeadInside,
-=(Vega)=-DI, VegaDI, Vega.DeadInside.
I have been in a clan for UT and a clan for ET. But I didn't stay a member very long because I thought playing with a clan was boring. You couldn't just play for fun. Everything was taken much too seriously. Before a match, you could be waiting hours before you finally would start playing.
And that's not why I play games. Games for me have to be fun and not be played too seriously.

I always liked to play digital games because you don't need to have another player. But I also play a lot of analog games with friends and family.

Made my first game at the University College Arteveldehogeschool. This was a simple maze game created with JavaScript.

The game companies I worked at are at this point:
