My current website mascotte, a game blood parasite!

Own work

This is an overview of some of my works that are not school assignments. Or parts of bigger assignments.
Pre-photoshop means I didn't know how to use the program yet.
My art mainly consists out of characters and creatures.

Horror (pre-photoshop) (2004)

Made this one for a contest in my one year of university. Turned out I was the only one who participated :D

AV mouse (2007)

This was going to be a mascot for an audio and video website.

Eyeball (2007)

Created this character as a mascot for my Flash tech portfolio of 2007.
On the left you see a volume control. The eye nerve disappeared by using a mask when you turned the volume down.
The middle eyeballs were video / audio controls. The pause button shows the mouse over image, the play button the mouse down image.
On the right is the main mascot. He looked constantly at the position of your mouse. He ‘talked’ when you navigated through the menu to help you by using a text balloon where text would enter as if it was typed.

Zen Devil (2007)

For this character, I wanted to create a combination of good and evil in one picture.

This drawing is a combination of my favorite work of Luis Royo, The Announcement and my favorite Disney character, Donald Duck.

Game parasite (2010)

New portfolio teaser

My current mascot, the game parasite

Hey, where have you seen this one before? :)
My current mascot, the game parasite. While thinking about new possible themes for my new portfolio, I played with the idea that games are in my body. So I came up with the idea of a game parasite in my blood.

Assassin Geisha (2011)

Assassin geisha - click to enlarge

For an Assassin’s Creed competition, I made a geisha assassin. After doing some research, I of course found some geisha assassins … My first idea was to use the pins in the hair as the weapons. But guess what : people already thought about that. And I also found out that prostitutes (these are NOT geishas!) had hair pins that were used as a weapon to keep annoying guys away from them. So I had to come up with a new weapon. This is how I ended up with the idea to use the shamisen as the weapon. My first approach for the weapon was the item that is used to strike the snares. But this would be to obvious. So I came up with the idea to use the pins at the top of the instrument to be metal pins that can be used as weapons.

The whole idea behind the composition is that you don't directly see the threat of the weapon. I first lure the attention away by the arching of the body and head to the left. Once you want to look to the right, you have a loose string that might guide your attention again to the left. And when you finally see the weapon, it is already too late.
